Is It Possible to Fly Without an ID?

Traveling without an ID will be a significant challenge for any passenger, as some Airlines have strict policies and refuse passengers to board the plane. Similarly, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) policy, passengers must provide ID proof to cover certain international routes. Nevertheless, you may find some relaxation on domestic routes if you do not carry any ID proof because the TSA will use other acceptable ways to determine whether you are an actual passenger for the booked tickets on the Airline. Still, it is advised that every passenger who likes to visit domestic or international destinations must bring the correct ID proof for the Swift Airlines services.

What if I lost my ID proof just before the flight?

Assuming you lose your ID proof just before using the airline's services due to an unexpected incident, you can travel only as per the TSA updated guidelines. The TSA support team at the Airport will identify your correct identity using alternative options. They will also ask you to write your full name, address, and some other security-related questions. Further, you also have to go for an additional screening at the Airport by the TSA team. During the screening, you will be prohibited from using the phone to avoid any problems. After the successful verification, the TSA team will allow you to continue using airline services on domestic routes.

However, continuing airline services will be almost impossible or difficult without the proper ID proof. Every country has its screening policy, and passengers without ID proof will be an indirect threat to their internal security. Still, you can refer to the TSA rules and regulations or contact the Airport Authority regarding proof of lost ID before using international flights.

What ID proof can I bring for the airline services?

Whenever you use Airline services, especially for international routes, the TSA has some guidelines for ID proofs. The acceptable proof of passenger ID, according to the TSA rules at the airport, is provided below.

  • Driving license or state-issued real photo ID
  • USA passport card
  • USA passport book
  • DHS trusted traveler cards, including NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST
  • Permanent resident card
  • U.S. Military Card
  • Native American Tribal Photo ID
  • Airlines or airport-issued ID under TSA approvals
  • Border-crossing card

Can I use my digital ID proof for the flight journey?

TSA is even now accepting passengers' digital ID proof at the Airport. First, willing passengers who have confirmed tickets must scan the digital QR code or click on the Mobile App, which allows digital ID readers. A consent message will appear on the smartphone, and the user must share their digital ID proof with TSA. Once passengers are ready to share the evidence of their digital ID, TSA will take an automatic picture after their consent and allow them to use the airline services as per the policy.

Does TSA allow birth certificates for air travel?
